Open Question: I have an account filed with bankruptcy?

I applied for the Bank of America student credit card (I’m 18) and I got info in the mail that I wasn’t approved because I previously filed bankruptcy or have an account filed with bankruptcy. I have never declared bankruptcy since I just turned 18 last week. What can I do? I think i’m a victim of identity theft.
