A dairy worker, who authorities say spent the past six years working at a Laveen farm under a fake name, was arrested Thursday as part of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s crackdown on illegal workers.

The Sheriff’s Office has made at least eight arrests this year since a new employer-sanctions law regarding illegal workers went into effect. However, no Maricopa County employers have been cited.

“We don’t have enough evidence to hold any employers responsible yet,” Arpaio said. “But we have cases in the hopper. We want to do the right thing. I am very pro-business.” advertisement

The Legal Arizona Workers Act, which went into effect Jan. 1, gives the state authority to suspend or revoke the business license of any employer found to have knowingly or intentionally hired an illegal immigrant.

Barnett Lotstein, special assistant to Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, said no civil cases against employers have been filed in Maricopa County. The state’s 15 county attorneys have the power to enforce the law but said previously that they had no intention of bringing enforcement actions until after March 1.

“Mr. Thomas has said it would take some time. It’s not a quick process,” Lotstein said.

Arpaio said all of the this year’s arrests, including Thursday’s at Jerome LaSalvia Dairy in the southwest Valley, involved illegal workers from Mexico. And Capt. Ray Jones said all of the cases involve identity theft.

Jose Luis Cordova Perez, 28, was taken into custody while milking a cow Thursday and was taken to a county jail on suspicion of forgery.

The arrest brought disappointment and shock from dairy owner Jerome LaSalvia.

“He was one of my good employees,” LaSalvia said. “He was part of the economy. It’s hard to find someone to work on the farm…. This man had been with me for six years. It really caught me off guard.”

LaSalvia said the worker went by the name of Jason Raper, and that “someone else has received his Social Security and tax credit” for years.

Jones said the identity-theft victim contacted the employee-sanctions tip line at the County Attorney’s Office in March, and the case was referred to the Sheriff’s Office in early April.

Arpaio has taken heat from Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and legislative leaders over his aggressive enforcement of illegal workers. But Arpaio says he has no intention of backing down.

Julie Pace, an employment and immigration lawyer, said local police agencies have been dealing with identify-theft issues for the past two years. But the Sheriff’s Office has “jumped into the fray” and businesses are very concerned, she added.
This CRIMINAL illegal stole some honest Americans I.D., and probably SCREWED UP his credit in the process!

Open Question: Old credit problems what should I do now? One day I’d like to be able to qualify to get credit back on track.

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

I have’nt had an open credit line in over 5 years, I fell into financial and medical problems and defaulted on almost everything. I recently ran my credit & found out that things (even older than 7 years still show up-some don’t read charge off, but seriously delinquent.) I have several small bills on there too that i’m not sure where they came from but no big deal. Two bounced check fees from years ago (125.00 total), & an electric bill. No judgements though. My credit score is 584, it said I had 16 satisfactory accounts (I assume charged offs) $7689 in collection debt. One installment account of $177 I have no idea what it is, 2 open accounts (maybe not charged off yet) 14 closed (?) I never had that many to my knowledge. No public records, no credit inquiries in last 2 years. Some things repoted ok and being paid until last couple months-I don’t know what they are-(I’m pretty sure they aren’t any type of identity theft though just reporting errors) My question is should I pay
the checks fee, and any small things not in charge off. Should I pay small charge offs, should I leave it alone. (I’ve heard sometimes it’s best to not do anything) Will it do anything for my credit? What should I focus on, what should I do? I’m not trying to buy a car or house or anything I just want to establish credit of some kind again. (I don’t want to need a co-signer for things at 40 ten years from now) Should I consider bankruptcy on bills so old, or no because they are charged off. Should I apply for something small (like a gas or store card) I’m pretty sure I’ll get turned down. Should I pay off charge offs, what will report if I do, will it raise my score? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open Question: What do you think Utility bill lands illegal alien in hot water ?

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Many here have said what’s the fussing about illegals only use stolen id’s and it’s ok as long as it’s for a better life and in this case is it right an illegal alien stoled a citizens id and used it for unlawful purposes ? BURLINGTON — A state tax refund that was a little short led to an identity theft charge against an illegal immigrant with an alias who had been deported once before.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report on April 1 from James Walker of Burlington, who told deputies that his state tax refund check was $288.12 less than he expected. That’s because the city of Raleigh had garnisheed his refund for failing to pay his water bill.

Problem was, the sheriff’s office said, Walker had no water account with the city of Raleigh. Deputies discovered that someone had used Walker’s Social Security number to obtain water service in Raleigh. Thursday morning, Raleigh police arrested a man named Jose Armando Sierra Martinez, 40, of 5110 Neuse Commons Lane, Apt. 104, Raleigh.

Deputies said they were able to determine that Martinez is Jimence Carlos Aqudelo, who was from Colombia and had been previously deported. Aqudelo has been charged with one count of felony identity theft, and he is being held in the Alamance County jail on an $8,000 bond.

Open Question: Can you give up wanting to be with someone when you have a stack of problems that stop you form doing this?

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

I’m 27 now and have over the years acquired in some way or another problems I can’t fix. There are so many they really don’t give me enough room to tell you about all of them. Some are and include the fact that I can’t drive anymore do to an identity theft issue. I have no family left alive. I have to live under my work so I can get here everyday. If not then I wouldn’t be able to feed myself. There really isn’t any kind of advancement in my life because of these problems. People laugh and tell me to just fix them. When I ask them for help they either have an excuse for not helping me or they try to help and end up with the same results I’ve been getting for the past few years. I realized about a year ago that I was lonely. No one to talk to other than the guy I work for, for months at a time can really take it’s toll on you. I’ve tried to date before but it never seems to work out. Women seem to be opportunistic. They are always looking for something better. I’m not sure what to do.
There is no public transpiration where I live. I can’t get another job because there is no way to get there. I’ve been trying to fix these problems for years but can’t.
